“If you don’t have accurate data, or you can’t explain how that data was generated… your gut will start telling you ‘something’s not right'”
Wise words from Calum Stark on why you need to listen to your gut
As Nishaan Vigneswaran, the (Great?) Scot and I continued our discussion on data vs intuition
🎯 Joel Brooker made a great point on last week’s intuition vs data post – with experience, your gut becomes more and more valuable
I remember in a past role being questioned on the quality of my closed deals
As the data was showing my clients had the lowest retention rate of all the sales team
My gut kicked in pretty hard against the ‘data’
Upon digging, we found the reason my gut kicked in
The poorly sold clients of all of the sales reps who were no longer with the business
Were finding their way into my name, as I was Team Lead – literally the reps who I was helping manage out of the business… the system was moving their deals into my name!
So… of course data is important
But if you have experience under your belt
And it doesn’t feel right
Back your gut, and check the data
